RCMP investigate fatal collision on QE2 north of Innisfail

Local Mounties are investigating the cause of a fatal crash on the QE2 Monday night.
RCMP say preliminary information suggests that, at around 5:28 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2025, a vehicle heading northbound on Highway 2, struck the back of a semi, lost control and was struck by another semi. It happened about 4 kms north of Innisfail, near Township Road 360.
Police say EMS arrived on scene and the driver of the vehicle, a 54-year-old Airdrie resident, was declared deceased. No other major injuries were reported.
The collision resulted in Highway 2 northbound being closed for several hours while emergency crews responded.
