Red Deer RCMP seize fentanyl following arrest

Red Deer RCMP have arrested a female and seized suspected fentanyl following a call to a local business.

On Sept. 25, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., Red Deer RCMP General Duty say they received a call from a manager at a downtown bank advising a female was inside the business yelling at staff and refusing to leave.

RCMP responded to the location where the female was located and spoken to, however she continued to yell and refused to leave. Red Deer RCMP arrested the female, which led to police locating a large bag of suspected fentanyl in her pocket, along with approximately $440 cash.

A 33-year-old female resident of Red Deer, has been charged with Unlawfully Traffic in a Controlled Substance.

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Mounties say the woman was released to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Oct. 10, 2024.
