“Farm to Table Tour” – Red Deer County’s premier Farm Tour and Dinner Event

Jul 18, 2024 | 10:23 AM

On August 17, Red Deer County’s ‘Farm to Table Tour’ will provide participants the opportunity to explore local farming operations, learn about the effort and technology involved in local food production, and speak to local farmers directly.

County officials say the tour will conclude with culinary dishes prepared by chefs in the central region. Historically, officials note that Red Deer County’s Agricultural Service Board (ASB) has hosted 17 consecutive agricultural tours to showcase local farm and agricultural operations.

This year, Red Deer County is collaborating with Alberta Open Farm Days and bringing a brand-new experience to the public. Participants will embark on a bus tour to three unique farms in the County and return to Canyon Ski Resort; where six talented chefs will craft delicious meals featuring the finest meat and produce from Red Deer County.

“Its important to know where our food is coming from and that this region in Red Deer County has some of the best farms and producers, and people who truly care about growing good food,” said Mayor Jim Wood, “In the spirit of community, we are also working with the food bank to ensure any leftover food from the event is donated.”

Participants will meet at Canyon Ski Resort at 12:00 p.m. (Noon), and visit YR Bison Ranch, Red Shed Malting, and Garlic Goodness.

Organizers say the day will include appetizers on the tour and return for dinner at 5:30 p.m. to Canyon Ski Resort, where the following Chefs: Philip Warren from 53 on Ross, JP Dublado from Red Deer Resort & Casino, Dany Sok from Bamboo Hut Southeast Asian cuisine, Morgan Chayer from Coco Beans – Gasoline Alley Farmers Market, Miranda Moesker from Red Deer Polytechnic, and Maia Fenger from Kitchen 49, will be awaiting guests to serve them a tasty meal curated from local ingredients.
