Red Deer College's Student Association President has been recognized with a national prize.

Maryanne McGrath received the Colleges and Institutes Canada Student Leadership Award of Excellence Gold at a gala Tuesday in Quebec City.

New Elementary School Named After Former Dawe Principal Don Campbell

The new elementary school opening this September in Inglewood will be called Don Campbell Elementary.

The Red Deer Public Schools board approved the name at a special meeting Wednesday.

People Could Be Allowed Back To Fire-Ravaged Fort McMurray As Early As June 1

EDMONTON — The Alberta government says people from the fire-ravaged city of Fort McMurray could return home starting on June 1 if conditions are deemed to be safe. 

"Remember, many hazards remain in Fort McMurray," Premier Rachel Notley said Wednesday.
