Central Alberta Film Festival Now Playing in Red Deer

Local film buffs have a chance to enjoy some great flicks at the Central Alberta Film Festival in Red Deer this weekend.

The second annual event runs February 23 - 25 at the Scott Block Theatre and Carnival Cinemas and also entails an awards celebration.

WHL bringing Awards Ceremony and Bantam Draft to Red Deer

Starting this May, Red Deer will be the new home of the WHL Awards and Bantam Draft. 

League Commissioner Ron Robison made the announcement Wednesday at the Enmax Centrium, home of the Red Deer Rebels. The partnership is for three years.

Zane Lambert, a cowboy from Ponoka, won the Rebel Energy Services Xtreme Bulls event held in Red Deer this weekend. Lambert earned 172.5 points and a payday of $3,756 for his efforts.

A Ponoka cowboy has won the Rebel Energy Services Xtreme Bulls event in Red Deer to open the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association’s 2018 season.

The RDC Queens Curling team won gold, while the Kings won silver at the ACAC Curling Championships in Camrose this weekend. The mixed team placed fourth.

The Red Deer College Queens Curling team won gold at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Curling Championships this weekend in Camrose. The Kings earned silver and the mixed team placed fourth.

Red Deerians will have the chance this week to see an intriguing Alberta-made film bringing the message that love endures all.

Rebels winning ways continue in land of the Giants

The Red Deer Rebels brought a three-game winning streak into the lower mainland Sunday night and saw that extended to four games after downing the Vancouver Giants 4-2 in Langley, B.C.
