Truck/Bike Collision Serves as Important Traffic Safety Reminder

It’s been a tough year for young Marcus Andersen.

This past spring, the 12-year-old broke his right leg in a skateboard accident.

On Tuesday, his left femur snapped after he was hit by a pickup truck while riding his bike through a crosswalk.

Emergency Services Open House Provides Lessons in Safety

Red Deer Emergency Services held a well-attended open house at their north end Fire Station #5 Thursday afternoon.

Bringing the community together was intended as an educational opportunity according to Fire Prevention Officer Shane Dussault.

Building Opportunities Program Breaks Ground on Thirteenth Year

The Building Opportunities program at Notre Dame High School kicked off its thirteenth year Thursday.
 
Fourteen students will spend the next several months building a house to the drywall stage.
