The Red Deer Rebels have added their top draft pick from last year to their roster.

Forward Ethan Rowland joined the team Tuesday after his Calgary Northstars were knocked out of the Alberta Midget Hockey League playoffs on Sunday.

In an injury-shortened season, Rowland had one goal and four assists in 19 regular season games with the Northstars.

Rowland, who is 15, also played for Team Alberta at the WHL Cup where he won a silver medal and had two points in four games.

The Rebels drafted the Calgary native with the 22nd overall pick in last year’s WHL Bantam Draft after he racked up 39 points in 34 games with the Bantam AAA Calgary Northstar Sabres.
