A sixteen year-old boy is dead after a two vehicle crash near Rocky Mountain House Thursday morning.

The collision happened around 8:30 a.m. on Arbutus Road south of Highway 11 when RCMP say a northbound SUV collided with a southbound flatbed truck.

Mounties say the driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased on scene, while the two occupants of the truck suffered minor, non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic was re-routed in the area for a few hours while police and an RCMP collision analyst investigated, with Mounties considering visibility and weather as contributing factors.

The deceased’s name will not be released.
