A second teen found unconscious in an idling vehicle last week in Drayton Valley succumbed to his injuries in an Edmonton hospital over the Christmas weekend.

Gage Bogart, 17, was found in the driver's seat of the idling car at about 3:30 a.m. last Thursday, beside 16-year-old Shaina Ridenour in the passenger seat.

Both were unconscious upon being found with Bogart being airlifted to an Edmonton hospital in critical condition. Ridenour was pronounced dead at the Drayton Valley hospital.

Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene near 54 Street and 24 Avenue and noted a strong odour of exhaust fumes from inside the vehicle.

A mechanical inspection for the vehicle is scheduled on December 27. Corporal Chris Warren with RCMP Media Relations says there is nothing to suggest that the incident was intentional, calling it "an extremely unfortunate accident."

Bogart was a Grade 12 student at Frank Maddock High School and enjoyed BMX. No details have been released for Bogart's memorial services.

A celebration of life for Ridenour will be held at the MacKenzie Conference Centre at 5745 45 Avenue in Drayton Valley on Dec. 27 at 1 p.m., according to an obituary.
