Brazeau County council has approved its latest 2018 Interim budget with all departments finding efficiencies and presented operating budgets reduced from 2017 levels.

The budget includes a $47 million interim operating budget and $34.9 million going towards capital projects. Within the capital budget, 95% has been dedicated to core infrastructure and $23.7 million dedicated to road infrastructure.

The full list of approved capital projects won't be revealed until the January 16 county council meeting.

The 2018 interim budget has a decrease in operations expenses of 3% compared to 2017. This is the third year in a row operating expenses have dipped.

Any changes to tax rates will be addressed in the spring.
