Red Deer Athlete Takes Alberta's Strongest Man Title

Alberta's Strongest Man is a Red Deerian.
 
Brad Shepherd, who trains out of Ludus [Loo-duhs] Fitness, topped the super heavyweight division at the annual competition in Fort McMurray over the weekend.

Blackfalds' Peter Won Shooting for Wheelchair Basketball Gold in Rio

A 28-year-old Blackfalds man is headed to his first Paralympics this week.
 
Peter Won has been playing wheelchair basketball for fifteen years, including stints in the US College ranks, playing club ball in South Korea and on a semi-pro team in Germany.

Team Alberta Wins Bronze at Baseball Nationals on Home Turf

Team Alberta picked up the bronze medal at this weekend's Baseball Canada Senior Women Invitational Championships at Great Chief Park.

The home squad, which featured seven players from central Alberta, beat the team from Quebec 8-5 with runs in every inning but the first.

Bucs Season Ends With Loss in League Final

A dream 2016 season came to a disappointing end Saturday for the Central Alberta Buccaneers.

The Bucs entered the Alberta Football League final versus the Fort McMurray Monarchs a perfect 8-0 on the year and as the number one ranked team in Canada.
