Lacombe 2018 FCSS Community Grant Program projects approved

The Lacombe & District FCSS and the City of Lacombe have announced the projects approved to receive funding for the 2018 Community Grant Program.

The annual external grant program for Lacombe & District FCSS is designed to support local social service programs that are preventive in nature, promote and enhance the well-being of individuals, families and the community. 

“Lacombe & District FCSS is pleased to partner with the City and community organizations to address community needs and help support individuals and families,” said Lacombe & District FCSS Executive Director Susan MacDonald. “The 2018 approved projects will benefit many in our community and also address the FCSS goal of providing supports.” 

There are three new initiatives this year including, Connect Parent Group, a new program to support parents of children aged 8 to 18 will be offered through County of Lacombe Lifelong Learning Association.

Kozy Korner Senior’s Centre will be offering new activities for community seniors and the Centre for Peace and Justice will be facilitating conflict skills training workshops.

This year’s FCSS grant funding will also assist ongoing children & youth programs offered through Big Brothers & Big Sisters and Central Alberta Youth Unlimited.

Teenage moms will be supported through the CYU Stepping Stones program and local seniors will be supported through the efforts of Volunteer Link programs.

The City of Lacombe has provided Lacombe & District FCSS with additional funds to facilitate the 2018 Community Grant Program.

The available funding for 2018 is $31,500 and goes to: 

Big Brothers Big Sisters receives $10,912 for Community Mentoring

Youth Unlimited is getting $8,000 for the Youth Drop in Program and Stepping Stones 

Volunteer Link receives $5,725 for office operations 

Lacombe Lifelong Learning funding of $4,600 will go toward the Connect Parent Group project

Kozy Korner Senior’s $1,063 will go toward special events

Centre for Peace & Justice receives $1,000 for Conflict Skills Training Workshops
