Mar 14, 2018 | 8:23 AM

RED DEER- It has been 8 years since a group from Crossroad Church in Red Deer lead a team down to Haiti following the devastating magnitude 7.0 earthquake on January 12, 2010.

The quake killed 220,000 thousand people and injured over 300,000.

On Thursday, Marc and Lisa Honorat, co-founders of Haiti Arise, will be in Red Deer to share their story of how Haiti continues to be transformed since that fateful day in 2010.

Many Red Deer residents have pulled together over the last 8 years to help Haiti recover against insurmountable odds and work to transform a community that was down on its knees.

Marc Honorat, a native Haitian with his wife and six children, work to bringing hope and positive change to his home country of Haiti.

As a former “slave child” in Haiti from age 5 until he was rescued at the age of 12 years, Marc often shares what motivates him to make a difference, saying, “To whom much is given, much is required”.

Haiti Arise invites Red Deer residents, churches, businesses and service groups to find out more about their work in Haiti and the many opportunities that exist for volunteers to get involved.

Come here this amazing story, which will not only touch your heart, but inspire you.

The event is being held at The Center, 5301 Gaetz Avenue.

It starts at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by CanWest Travel and Clothing for a Cause.
