Totals are in from another year of Tools for School in Red Deer.
Around 1800 backpacks full of school supplies were given to students as they returned to school last month.
Darcy Ouellet, Fund Development Officer with Women's Outreach, says the community has come through once again to give kids confidence in the classroom.
"It's amazing to see the community is supporting these kids so they're going to school and they have exactly what they need to be successful," he says. "These kids are going to school with the confidence they need without being bullied maybe for showing up without anything. I couldn't imagine how hard that would be for a child."
Love in the Laces, another campaign co-run by Women's Outreach and Crossroads Church, was able to give between 700 to 800 pairs of shoes to students for their new school year.
