The Ponoka Fire Department (PFD) invites area residents to a Community Open House and free BBQ at the Town Fire Station (5410-48 Avenue) on October 10 from 7 – 9 p.m. as part of its Fire Prevention Week public education efforts.
The event promises to be fun for the whole family!
Come and participate in the following activities:
• Take a tour of the Fire Station
• Climb into a fire truck
• Shoot at targets with a fire hose
• Get hands-on fire extinguisher training
• Watch fire equipment demonstrations
* Children can try on kid-sized firefighter gear
PFD members will also be visiting Ponoka schools during Fire Prevention Week, which runs from October 8 – 14.
The theme of this year’s Fire Prevention Week – Every second counts! Plan two ways out! – encourages people to create and practise an escape plan that identifies two ways out of every room in your home in the event of fire, wherever possible.
