A successful motorcycle ride held over the weekend will give a huge boost to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau.

The local HOG (Harley Owners Group) held their fifth annual ride on Saturday the 9th starting at the Harley Davidson in Gasoline Alley.

The event raised more than $7,000, including $6,000 from the recent Prairie Regional Hog Rally hosted in Red Deer.

In addition, the Christmas Bureau will get seven large bins of new toys.

In 2016, the Bureay saw about a 20 per cent increase in the number of children they helped. About 1200 families were helped by the Bureau just last year.
