Aug 14, 2017 | 6:22 AM

PONOKA- The installation of the new playground equipment for the Co-op Subdivision gets underway today, Monday, August 14.

The town is asking for community volunteers to come on out and give them a hand.

Volunteers will be needed to help install border material and pea gravel for the new play area, beginning on Tuesday around noon and continuing throughout most of the week.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Andrew Jones at 403-783-0136.

Individuals who have already contacted the Town to volunteer their help will receive a phone call from Town staff to confirm scheduling details.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring sledge hammers, shovels, wheelbarrows, or even a skid steer, if they have one.

A second new playground planned for the Westview Park neighbourhood in Ponoka is temporarily on hold until the Co-op Subdivision playground is installed.

The Co-op Subdivision playground is located in the north end of Ponoka between 64 Avenue and 65 Avenue.

The Westview Park playground is located on 51 Avenue Close in Riverside.
