The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG) is welcoming new and long-standing Red Deerians to celebrate Heritage Day on Monday, August 7th from 1-4 pm!
The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG) invites all Red Deerians, 'old timers' and 'newcomers', to join them at their Celebrating Canada 150: Welcome to Red Deer event. They will have liège waffles by Wannawafel-Red Deer, activities, a scavenger hunt, games, balloon twisting by Jeana, and live music by Trent Agecoutay and Kaylee Rose. This event is for all ages and free to attend; donations are welcome.
“Heritage Day is a great opportunity for the MAG to extend a welcoming handshake to everyone in our community,” says Lorna Johnson, Executive Director. “We invite Red Deerians – whether they are young or old, old-timers or newly-arrived to come down and share in celebrating our city and our history.”
Local Photographer Tim Van Horn created six Canada 150 commemorative photo mosaics that will be permanently installed on the exterior of the building. The unveiling of these Canada 150 murals, originally scheduled for 2pm on Heritage Day, has been postponed. There will be a special unveiling ceremony scheduled at a later date. The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery graciously acknowledges the financial support of the Government of Canada for our Canada 150 commemorative "Red Deer Mosaic" project. These mosaics are comprised in part of photos taken by Tim Van Horn at the MAGapalooza Family Day event in February of 2017.
