RED DEER- The City is developing a strategic Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP).

It will guide the monitoring, maintenance, protection and enhancement of the vital community asset.

Residents are invited to attend a public consultation session to help shape the UFMP and to ensure it adequately reflects the community’s vision for Red Deer’s future urban forest.

The consultation session is being held on Wednesday, August 2, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. in Conference Room C-201, Building 300, Civic Yards, 7721 40 Ave.

Development of Red Deer’s Urban Forest Management Plan began in January.

The 20-year plan will focus on trees managed by The City of Red Deer.

It will provide best practices and short, medium and long-term strategies to help make monitoring, maintenance, protection and enhancement of the urban forest more effective and efficient.

Through the implementation of the plan, Red Deer’s urban forest will become more resilient, safer, and will provide significant benefits for The City’s residents and visitors.
