Red Deer Arts Council’s Second Open Studio Tour

Jun 12, 2017 | 6:19 PM

The Red Deer Arts Council is thrilled to announce its second Open Studio Tour, June 24 and 25, 2017!

Last year’s event was so successful with over 300 people attending the tour, that we have grown the event to two days!

We have partnered with twelve visual artists in ten studios to bring you this amazing experience. They will open the doors to their private art studios from 1 to 4:30 p.m., and welcome the public to see the process of creating fine art. From sculpted clay to sculpted metal, molten glass to molten gold, the fascinating techniques and works of some of Red Deer’s most recognized professional artists will be on display for visitors.

This self-guided tour is free of charge. Visitors can download or print a tour guide that includes a map to help find all the studios, and artist bios to read before arriving on scene. The artists will not only demonstrate the processes they use, but happily take questions about their media, style, technique or anything related to art. Artists love to answer questions about their art!

Each studio is also offering a door prize for visitors. The draw will take place at a reception at Troubled Monk Brewery tasting room at 5551 45 Street. You will have the opportunity to take part in the Brewery’s tour and tasting to find out about their own brand of locally made, hand crafted products. Tour visitors are invited to RSVP to the Arts Council by June 19th by phone at 403-348-2787 or by email info@reddeerartscouncil.ca to be eligible for this special reception.

The downloadable/printable map and brochure is available on the Arts Council website https://reddeerartscouncil.wordpress.com/ or Facebook page, or through the City of Red Deer Culture Services.
