The Danish Canadian Museum, which is based in Spruce View, is hosting the annual Danish Canadian Conference this week.

The theme of this year’s Conference is ‘Step into the Saga’ and runs May 25 to 28 at the Sheraton Red Deer.

The national event is timely as the museum is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary. The museum also recently marked winning the 2017 Wynn McLean Rural Tourism Champion Award and 2016 Heritage Recognition Award for new developments including an authentic Naust ‘Ship House’ and Freydis Joanna ‘Viking Ship.’

The conference will open with an address from museum President Svend Nielsen, followed by greetings and speeches from Red Deer City Councillor Lynne Mulder, Red Deer – Mountain View MP Earl Dreeshen and former mayor Morris Flewwelling.
