Dog droppings at Blackfalds ball parks create foul mood

Apr 25, 2018 | 12:35 PM

The Town of Blackfalds is dealing with a crappy situation.

Officials say warm weather has revealed that some dog owners are taking their pets for walks where they shouldn’t, and not cleaning up afterwards.

Parks and Facilities staff say they have found a “very large amount of dog feces” littering ball diamonds at All Star Park and Cottonwood Meadows.

“The Town of Blackfalds has invested a lot time and money into our facilities in order to make a wonderful and fun living environment for the people who live here, this includes the Bark Park,” a post to the Town of Blackfalds website reads.

Bark Park is an off-leash dog park located just east of Protective Services on South Street and is a space to take your favourite fur animals. There, complimentary bags are provided to keep the area clean.

“We are asking that pet owners use the Bark Park to exercise dogs and, even if they are going for a short walk around the neighbourhood, to please pick up after their dog,” the Town says. “Refrain from walking them through amenities that are regularly used by families and residents.”

Town workers will be out in an attempt to clear the feces. Residents interested in helping their cleanup efforts can call 403-885-6363.
