Demolition underway at former Target store in Red Deer

Demolition work is now well underway at the former Target location at Red Deer’s Bower Place.

The work is being done to make way for a new two-storey addition on the east side of the mall, where the main floor is planned to include lease units that will connect to the rest of the shopping centre. The second floor is planned to contain administrative offices, leaseable office space and a larger lease unit.

According to officials with the Architectural firm Dialog which is looking after the project, a new mall entrance will also be created on the east side with new opportunities for some stores to be enclosed-mall tenants or free-standing tenants overlooking the east side parking lot.

Dialog officials have confirmed lease negotiations are underway with hopes of a grocery store to possibly occupy part of the main floor of the new addition.

The former Sears location at Bower Place is another area of the mall Dialog officials are investigating opportunities for as well.
