RCMP arrest two after armed robberies in Sylvan Lake and Eckville

Apr 4, 2018 | 3:37 PM

Two individuals are in custody after a pair of armed robberies in central Alberta on Tuesday night.

Sylvan Lake RCMP say it was around 8:20 p.m when the pair entered the GTI Service Station in Sylvan. One suspect was carrying a machete and demanded money.

They were given a small amount of cash before leaving.

While police were investigating that incident, a second robbery call came in from the GTI Service Station in Eckville.

The same two suspects entered that location and again demanded money while brandishing a machete. Cash was given before the suspects fled and neither of the store employees were injured.

Members alerted other detachments and at around 8:40, Rocky Mountain House RCMP located and stopped the suspect vehicle.

Two males, 20 and 21, both from Rocky Mountain House, were arrested without incident. Rocky RCMP also arrested two females who were in the vehicle, but they have been released without charges.

Charges are still pending against the two males.
