Luke Bast named to AJHL All-Rookie Team

Red Deer native Luke Bast has been named to the Alberta Junior Hockey League All-Rookie Team for the 2017-18 season. 

In 57 games with the Brooks Bandits, the first-year defenceman collected eight goals and 23 assists for 31 points. He also had 40 penalty minutes. 

Bast, 17, has added eight assists in nine playoff games with the Bandits. Brooks will be taking on Okotoks in the AJHL AJHL South Division Final.

Prior to joining the Bandits late last season, Bast played two years with the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs. He was named as the Alberta Midget Hockey League’s Top Defenceman and a First-Team All-Star in 2016-17 after leading all blue liners in scoring with 32 points in 34 games.
