Two more central Alberta communities are getting in on the fun of the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

In December, Edmonton and Red Deer were announced as co-hosts for the re-branded event with round robin and playoff games taking place between August 6 and 11.

Games in Red Deer will be played at the brand new Servus Arena.

Tuesday night at the Red Deer Rebels game, it was announced Penhold and Sylvan Lake will also host games for the international tournament.

On August 4, the Penhold Multiplex will host Sweden vs Finland in pre-tournament play while the USA will take on Slovakia at the NexSource Centre in Sylvan Lake. Both games are scheduled for 3 p.m.

“We are very excited to be a part of the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, showcasing premiere international hockey talent right here in Central Alberta,” says Sylvan Lake Mayor Sean McIntyre. “Hockey is in our blood in Sylvan Lake, and we are ready to welcome the Hlinka Gretzky Cup players, fans, coaches, and professional scouts to our community and our own NexSource Centre for competition.”

Red Deer Rebels ticket holders have until April 6 to secure tickets to the tournament games locally, after which tickets will go on sale to the public.
