Vipers, Copperheads set dates for Heritage League final

The Red Deer Vipers will begin the final phase of their quest for back-to-back HJHL championships this weekend.

The Vipers will battle the Coaldale Copperheads in the best-of-three championship series which will kick off Friday night at the Servus Arena at 8:30 p.m.

The series will shift back to Coaldale Saturday night for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop. If necessary, game three will be at the Servus Arena Sunday night at 8:30 p.m.

The Vipers and Copperheads split their season series with Red Deer dropping a 4-3 shoot-out decision in Coaldale on November 4 before earning a 4-3 come from behind victory on December 16.

Red Deer will be without Demien Chopek for the league final. The 19-year-old defenceman from Provost broke his wrist in game five of the North Final versus Airdrie and will miss the remainder of the season.
