The Red Deer Vipers are off to the Heritage Junior Hockey League final for the second year-in-a-row.

This, after the Vipers shut out the Airdrie Thunder 5-0 at the Ron Ebbesen Arena in Airdrie Friday night, taking the best-of-seven North Division final in six games, winning the series 4-2.

The first period saw Red Deer take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission thanks to a goal from Mack Differenz who got one by Thunder goaltender C.J. Wedenig on the short side.

In the second, the Vipers essentially put the game away with three more unanswered goals courtesy of Aidan Wilson who potted two and Logan Linnell who picked up the period’s third goal to make it 4-0 Vipers after forty minutes.
