A hockey player from Red Deer has been named to the British Columbia Hockey League’s First All-Star Team for the 2017-2018 season.

Forward Kale Howarth, 20, of the Trail Smoke Eaters was named to the BCHL First Team All-Stars this week following voting by the league’s play-by-play broadcasters.

Howarth finished 11th in regular season scoring with 62 points (24-38) in 44 games with the Smoke Eaters.

He also has eight points in four playoff games – a first round sweep over West Kelowna. The Smoke Eaters begin a second round best-of-7 series March 16 against Penticton.
