CALGARY- Emergency Services in Calgary was forced to call a red alert for nearly half an hour yesterday when all available ambulances got tied up during a snowstorm.
They had 118 calls for service between 8 a.m.and noon.
On a normal day the average is about 85.
Spokesman Adam Loria says there was a small number of non-life-threatening calls pending, but all were eventually handled and extra staff and ambulances were brought on shift throughout the morning.
