Anderson, Wass named RDC Athletes of the Week

Red Deer College Athletics has announced their latest Boston Pizza Athletes of the Week.

Cassidy Anderson – Queens Hockey
Hometown – Water Valley, AB
Bachelor of Business Administration (5th year)

Anderson helped lead the RDC Queens Hockey team to an Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) silver medal this past weekend.

The fifth-year Bachelor of Business Administration student displayed a strong work ethic over two games in the league final and was one of the heart-and-soul players for the Queens while contributing at both ends of the ice. The talented defender left it all on the ice with a tremendous effort in her final ACAC hockey game on Friday.

Adam Wass – Kings Indoor Track
Hometown – Lacombe, AB
Bachelor of Science (2nd year)

Wass played an important role in helping the RDC Kings Indoor Track team win a bronze medal at the ACAC Indoor Track Championships this past weekend. The Bachelor of Science student ranked in the top ten in many races and contributed the most points for the Kings.

The second-year student-athlete placed fifth in the 3,000 m finals (9:42.08), seventh over 1,500 m (4:30.81) and sixth (2:50.10) in the 1,000 m. The runner from Lacombe was a member of the Kings 4 x 400 m relay team which finished fourth and just missed a bronze medal by less than half a second.
