Olds Grizzlys sign two players for 2018-19 season

OLDS- The Grizzlys have added two players to their roster for next season.

Defenceman Tanner Scott, who turns 18 later this month, has signed a Letter of Intent with the Grizzlys.

The Red Deer product is currently playing with the Alberta Midget Hockey League for the Red Deer Chiefs Midget AAA.

Scott appeared in 35 regular season and 4 playoff games and scored 11 points.

He also played one game in the AJHL this season for the Whitecourt Wolverines.

“The signing of Tanner is very exciting for the Grizzlys” VP of Hockey Operations Brad Koopmans says, and adds “he is a steady, talented defenceman with so much potential. He will assist in strengthening the Grizzlys blue line for next season and future years.”

The Grizzlys also announced that defenceman Joel Shoemaker has signed a Letter of Intent.

The 18-year-old Crossfield product spent the past season with the Airdrie CFR Bison in the Alberta Midget Hockey League.

Shoemaker appeared in 31 regular season games, scoring 12 points for the Bison.

“Joel is a dynamic puck mover, who has the skill and ability to control the game.” Associatecoach Joe Murphy says, and adds “he was a priority for us, and we are very excited that Joel chose the Olds Grizzlys”

Shoemaker appeared in 4 games for the Grizzlys this past season, scoring a goal and assist.
