Drayton Valley RCMP weekly brief March 1- 8

THEFT FROM VEHICLE, BREAK AND ENTER 

Drayton Valley RCMP say on March 1 at 9:40 a.m. members received a report of a theft from a vehicle on 56A Street after someone had rummaged through a vehicle sometime overnight. Only an IPhone cord was taken. 

At noon on 54 Street a report came in of someone entering the yard of Wrangler Locating. Police say entry was made through a hole cut into the fence and once inside suspects gained entry to a storage shed. Video surveillance has been obtained and the incident is still under investigation.    

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF, THEFT OF TRUCK

On March 2 just before 9 a.m. on 45 Street Mounties received a report of an assault. The complainant stated there were two males and a female arguing and the female was possibly pushed. The group then left in a vehicle. Members attended and descriptions were provided of the vehicle and occupants were eventually located. They three were uncooperative and refused to provide any statements. 

Just before 9:30 a.m. on 50th Avenue a report came in of mischief to a fiber optic line. Video surveillance obtained showing a female seen at the front door, then is observed walking through back yard to cable box.  Property rep returned home to find the fiber optics line cut.  TELUS has been contacted and were advised they did not have anyone in the area and to contact police.  The woman on video is described as having dark hair, wearing sunglasses, dressed in heavy dark coat with yellow reflectors and a bag on her shoulder. The matter is still under investigation. 

At 10:30 a.m. at Lambs Trucking in Brazeau County a red 2005 GMC truck was stolen from the yard. Video surveillance showed entry to the yard being made by the suspects crawling under the gate. Once inside, suspects got into the truck and drove through the gate. Police say there would be front end damage to vehicle and also has a red diesel fuel tank in back. The suspect is described as wearing a white hoodie, and the suspect vehicle is a white or silver car that fled east bound. 

MISCHIEFS, TRESPASSING, POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY 

Just after 4 a.m. on March 3 at the Country Style Trailer Court a report was made after mailboxes were broken into sometime overnight. Canada Post has since been notified. Later that morning at 9:13 a.m. at the Omniplex police were called to a mischief incident where a male was hanging off the sprinkler pipes the previous night, and the piped had burst.  Video Surveillance obtained and shows one male hanging from pipe until it broke along with three other females present. The matter is still under investigation. 

A man was arrested just before 10:30 a.m. after a complaint was made that Timothy Lenevue was at Zingers Oilfield Rental and was not wanted on the property. Members attended and arrested Lenevue on outstanding warrants.  

Nearing 12:30 p.m. on 47 Street members were called about a possible stolen minivan being sighted. The complainant witnessed and identified the male leaving the vehicle. Members attended the location and confirmed the vehicle was stolen previously and the man was arrested.

DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, SHOPLIFTING

On March 4 at 2:24 a.m. a report was received of vandalism. Two males had broken a door of its hinges and caused $3,000 worth of damages. Members attended and noted several people, but its unknown who damaged the door. One person was arrested for public intoxication. 

At 11:29 a.m. a call came in of a shoplifting in progress at Walmart. Members attended and video surveillance was obtained along with statements.  Approximately $400 worth of merchandise taken and charges pending. 

At 11:37 a.m. on Highway 39 and Range Road 71 in Brazeau County a report was received of a theft from drilling rig site, with the suspects taking an air grinder, air hose and various tools.  

Just after 3 p.m. Dollarama on 50th Street alerted police to a possible shoplifter. The suspect is described as a white female approximately 20 years old wearing grey pants, black coat and red and blue bandana on her head, putting stuff into a backpack without paying. Members attended location but the female had left.  Patrols were made but the female not located. 

STRUCTURE FIRE, THEFT

On March 5 at 3:46 a.m. a request came in to assist Fire Department at a structure fire.  The residence was fully engulfed however the residence was vacant and no one inside.  

Just before 11:30 a.m. at Valley Concrete a report came in of  a red Chevrolet truck with blue front fender pulling up to the gate and throwing things into the yard.  The vehicle then drove off and had 3 young males inside.  Members attended location and the vehicle was located however no occupants were located.

ATTEMPTED THEFT OF VEHICLES, MISCHIEF, FRAUD

On March 6 just after 3 a.m. on Highway 753 near Cynthia an attempted theft of vehicle report came in after the complainant was awakened by the vehicle alarm.  The door was open and interior lights were on.  Members attended location and patrolled area.

At 6:51 a.m. on 55th Avenue in Cynthia the front grill of a vehicle was damaged in an apparent to steal it and there was no other damage.  Entry to the vehicle was not gained.  

Just after 7 a.m. on 48 Street in Lodgepole Mounties were called after a grey 2006 Dodge diesel mega cab 4X4 was stolen sometime overnight. The truck was recovered later in the day in Rocky Mountain House RCMP’s area with some damage.

At 11:55 a.m. a business in Drayton Valley reported a fraud incident after an unknown party claimed to be a government agency requesting a payment. Approximately $2,400 was lost. 

During the afternoon at 4:35 p.m. in Cynthia there was an attempted theft of a truck that caused significant damage to the vehicle. Police say this case is likely related to two incidents reported earlier in the day. 

THEFT OF TRUCK/TRAILER/SKIDOO, POSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

On March 7 at 1:12 a.m. on 52 Avenue in Drayton Valley a brown 1999 Ford F350 was stolen from a residence and was later recovered. 

At 2:17 a.m. a member on patrol conducted a traffic stop on 50th Avenue due to the vehicle bearing a stolen license plate.  A 25 year old female known to police is facing four charges in relation the stop.

At 12:19 p.m. in Lodgepole a snowmobile and a trailer was stolen from a residence. The theft had occurred sometime over the past two weeks. 

ROBBERY WITH FIREARM, THEFT OF TRUCK, BREAK AND ENTER

On March 8 at 4:13 a.m. in the Lodgepole area on Highway 620 a robbery with a firearm occurred and two males are in custody after a firearm was produced and a vehicle was stolen. Multiple charges are pending out of both the Drayton Valley and Rocky Mountain House area, police will release more info when charges are made.

At 4:15 a.m. in Lodgepole an attempt was made to steal a truck with the door handle being smashed as well as the ignition and steering column being damaged. 

At the Ramada Inn in Drayton Valley just after 4:30 a.m. a call came in after a blue Ford F350 was stolen from the parking lot. The truck had a red tidy tank in the back and the theft is still under investigation. 

At 5:45 a.m. in Brazeau County on Range Road 81 a break and enter occurred sometime overnight to a shop on a rural property. Items were taken including eight long guns.
