43 Street closing for ice removal, alternate routes advised

Mar 8, 2018 | 3:22 PM

Ice jams are forcing a road closure through downtown Red Deer starting Friday.

The City of Red Deer says 43 Street from Spruce Drive/48 Avenue will close until further notice to allow crews to remove significant ice build-up crom culverts in Waskasoo and Piper Creeks in order to prevent flooding.

Access to Rotary Park will remain open, but 43 Street will close to through traffic. City officials recommend 32 Street or 45 Street as alternate routes.

The sidewalk on the south side of 43 Street will close to pedestrians and some trails in the area will close. Please obey the signs and barricades in place.
