WRSD receives support on their plan with David Thompson High School

Wild Rose School Division is gaining support from Alberta Education on its plan regarding the challenges they are facing with David Thompson High School.

In a release it says that last month they received a letter from Alberta Education acknowledging the current issues as well as expressed support for the plan to relocate all of the K-12 students to Condor and Leslieville. The support includes helping them accommodate high school students and programming in the short term while planning for a more permanent and long term resolution through the capital planning process.

On February 23, 2018 Alberta Education further informed the school division that a value management session is to take place on April 19 and 20 to help determine the best long term option for the schools in Leslieville and Condor and how they will be able to accommodate the programming needs for all K-12 students in the corridor. Stakeholders involved in this value management will include Alberta Education and Infrastructure, a facilitator, architectural consultants, cost consultants, jurisdiction staff, principals, parents and representatives from Clearwater County.

WRSD continues to say in the release that they will continue to make use of David Thompson High School for both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years, after which they will move all of their corridor students into Condor and Leslieville schools and begin the process of remediating the lagoon.
