A local singer/songwriter who will be opening for a legendary Canadian country artist this weekend in Drayton Valley says she is “honoured” to be given the opportunity.

16-year-old Krissy Feniak will be the opening act for Duane Steele, who topped the Canadian Country Singles chart in 1996 with his song  “Anita Got Married.”

“It’s honestly so amazing, I love singing in front of all my family and friends, it’s great to be playing at home.” said Feniak. “And it’s so amazing to be opening for Duane Steele, he’s such an amazing songwriter probably one of the best we have in Canada. I am so honoured.”

The show will kick off a busy next few weeks for Feniak, who on Sunday departs for Nashville, TN where she is nominated for several North American Country Music Awards including Album Of The Year.
