MULTIPLE BREAK AND ENTERS, THEFT OF VEHICLE 

On February 22 at 8:43 a.m. Drayton Valley RCMP received a report of the theft of a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee sometime overnight. The vehicle had been left unlocked, and the vehicle was later recovered abandoned and undamaged.  

During the afternoon of the 22 Mounties responded to three reports of break and enters, with two involving a theft as well. The first occured at 12:45 p.m. on 50 Street when entry was gained to a garage through the man door and a set of subwoofers were stolen. Then a few minutes later on 53 Street another garage was broken into and a Stihl MS170 chainsaw was taken. 

Finally at 4:43 p.m. on 44 Street a report came in that a break and enter had occurred at a vacant residence. Entry to the home was likely made through the back door and once inside suspects damaged walls and spray painted the interior.

On February 23 just after midnight at the West Winds Motor Inn on 50 Street a call came in of a break and enter to the lounge after closing time. Members responded to the inn and found the north exit to the lounge unlocked.  Video surveillance showed the suspect checking the bar and is described as a male wearing a grey jacket with hood over face, jeans and gloves. Nothing was stolen from the building. 

Nearing 12:30 a.m. a report was made about an attempted theft of a truck on 49 Street. The complainant said a male, tall and skinny, wearing a grey coat with hood up and a crow bar in his hands attempted to break into a vehicle. The suspect then went towards the 7-11 but members patrolling the area were unable to locate the suspect. 

Just before 5 a.m. at the behind the Coach Motel members on patrol located a suspicious vehicle behind the motel and a traffic stop was initiated and 20 year old Ryley Trafiak was arrested on outstanding warrant for breach. 

At 6:12 a.m. on 49 Avenue an attempt was made to steal a black Ford F150 when suspects punched out the ignition to the vehicle but were unsuccessful. A subwoofer was stolen as well. Then at 10:06 a.m. two seperate calls came in of a theft of vehicle and a theft from vehicle. On 53 Street a 2000 black Pontiac Sunfire was stolen after being left running with keys in it. A possible suspect was described as a younger male with brown hair, a thin build and wearing a black hoodie. The vehicle was eventually recovered on February 24 in the Omniplex parking lot. The second call came in on the theft from a truck on 43 Street, when the passenger side window of a 2000 red Ford F250 broken sometime overnight. The driver’s side door locks were damaged and a screwdriver was left behind. Members attended and the screw driver seized for further analysis.

ASSAULT, FIREARMS OFFENCE

Just before 12:30 a.m. on February 24 on 50 Avenue an assault was reported to have occurred at the 7-11 convenience store. The complainant advised police that one male assaulted another after they bumped into each other and then started fighting.  Members attended location but the males were gone upon arrival.  Video surveillance was viewed but the identities of the two men are unknown to police. 

At 8:09 p.m. in Brazeau County a firearms offence came in after individuals got into an altercation. One of the individuals involved grabbed a firearm and proceeded to fire a round over the complainant’s vehicle. Mounties attended the scene and the suspect was arrested and the firearm was seized. 

ASSAULTS, BREAK AND ENTERS

Just before 1 a.m. on February 25 on 47 Avenue an assault was reported after the complainant heard yelling and screaming. Members attended and one male was arrested. 

At 9:44 a.m. mailboxes on 46 Avenue and 52 Street were broken into and mail was taken. Members attended and secured mailbox and the incident was reported to Canada Post.

Two break and enters were reported to police on the 25, one on 47 Avenue and 50 Avenue. Both cases had nothing stolen. 

Just before 7 p.m. at the Ramada Inn on 50 Street an assault was reported between a male and a female. Members attended and arrested one male for assault and breach of undertaking while the female was arrested for outstanding warrants. 

TWO MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISIONS WITH INJURIES, FRAUD 

On February 26 at 9:13 a.m. in Brazeau County on Township Road 512 and Highway 22 members responded to a single vehicle rollover with one person being transported to hospital with unknown injuries. Icy roads are considered a factor in the rollover. A second single vehicle rollover occurred at 10:18 a.m. in Brazeau County on Highway 22 and 50 Street with two people being taken to hospital with minor injuries. Icy roads are believed to be a factor in the incident as well. 

At 12:35 p.m. on 44 Street a call came in regarding the theft of lawn ornaments. The complainant advised police that a vehicle had pulled up and a female got out and stole three pink flamingo lawn ornaments. The suspect vehicle is a gold colour newer model SUV. 

A fraud occurred at the Aspen Motor Inn and DV Food Store at 8:47 p.m. after two suspects made fraudulent charges with credit card. The suspects are described as two Asian males, in their mid to late 40’s, approximately 5’8”, and left the store in a black Chrysler 2000.  Video surveillance was obtained and the matter is still under investigation.

SINGLE VEHICLE ROLLOVER RESULTS IN INJURIES, THEFT 

During the afternoon of February 27 just after 3 p.m. Zinger Oilfield Rentals reported a theft after a male and a female were seen dragging pails and heavy bins filled with what appeared to be copper wire. The suspect vehicle is a white Chevrolet half ton.  Suspect male was wearing a red winter fire retardant parka and had a heavy French accent.  Female suspect was wearing a blue fire retardant coveralls.

At 5:16 p.m. in Brazeau County on Highway 22 and Township Road 510 members responded to a single vehicle rollover after a truck landed in the ditch. Fire and EMS crews responded, and the female driver was examined and it was determined she sustained minor injuries. 

THEFT OF TRUCK, THEFT FROM VEHICLES 

On February 28 just after 7:30 a.m. on 52 Avenue a white 2008 Dodge truck was stolen from Bit Bite Services Ltd.  Entry was made through the gate which was broken into at 5:10 am.  Several other items stolen, and the truck was eventually recovered. 

At 10:05 a.m. on 56 Street a vehicle was broken into and rummaged through with a key fob being taken. Later at 1:20 p.m. on 56 Avenue a truck was broken into and some coins were taken. Footprints were observed from the vehicle to locked sheds as well. 

Just before 8 p.m. at the Poplar Ridge Trailer Court a report came in of a break and enter and a theft to a residence that occurred sometime over the past two weeks. The interior of the home was damaged, and numerous items were stolen.
