Two seriously hurt in Highway 2A crash north of Blackfalds

Two people were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 2A north of Blackfalds Saturday morning.

RCMP say it happened around 11:30 a.m. just north of Township Road 400 and resulted in traffic being diverted in the area for roughly two hours while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

Mounties say the collision involved a car and a truck with both occupants of the car taken to hospital with serious injuries and the three occupants of the truck not appearing to be hurt but taken to hospital as well for observation.

Police say a cause has yet to be determined and no charges have been laid but the investigation remains ongoing.
