Vipers, Colts to tangle in Heritage League playoffs

The Red Deer Vipers will meet the Mountainview Colts for the second straight year in the HJHL playoffs.

A season ago, Red Deer defeated Mountainview in seven games to advance to the Heritage League final. This year, they will play in the best-of-five northern semi-final. The Vipers won all four meetings between the two clubs during the regular season, outscoring the Colts 27-8.

Mountainview defeated the Stettler Lightning in round one of this year’s playoffs, winning the tightly-contested series two games to one.

The second round series will kick off Saturday night in Red Deer with the puck dropping at 8 p.m. at the Servus Arena while game two goes Monday night in Didsbury. Vipers away games can be listened to online at www.mixlr.com/reddeervipers.

The Blackfalds Wranglers taking on the Airdrie Thunder in the other north semi-final. Blackfalds swept Ponoka’s Stampeders in round one. The south semi-finals will feature the Coaldale Copperheads battling the High River Flyers and the Okotoks Bisons taking on the Cochrane Generals.
