Sara McMann of the Red Deer College Queens has been selected as the 2017-18 ACAC Female Curler of the Year.

After winning ACAC silver and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) gold last season with the Queens, the Bachelor of Science Nursing student has made a smooth transition into a leading role this year.

“Sara moved from third to skip on the women’s team this year, which can be a huge jump due to the strategy involved in calling the game and the pressure of throwing the last two rocks, but she has adjusted very well,” says Brad Hamilton, Head Coach of RDC Curling. “She was very confident calling the game and made some clutch shots last weekend at the ACAC Curling Championships.”

McMann and the Queens have steadily improved this season on their way to the championship title. After the Queens went 3-3 at the Fall Regional, the team went  5-1 at the Winter Regional and then 5-0 at the ACAC Championships to win the gold.
