Penhold council to further evaluate skate park proposal

Feb 17, 2018 | 8:50 AM

Penhold Town Council had a closer look this week at proposed plans for a skate park in the community.

A group called ‘Penhold Skate Park’ showed their plans to council on Monday, with the park proposed to have a footprint of roughly 10,000 square feet and encompassing a wide variety of obstacles catering to skateboarders. The centre piece would be a logo depicting the town’s quill.

Over the past year, officials say the committee has raised $24,000 towards the project for a total of $48,000 raised to date. The cost of the park is estimated to be about $600,000 and maintenance for approximately 25 years expected to come in around $2,000 – $6,000 per year.

Town officials say the group is now in a position to go after funding from other agencies and hope to break ground in the spring of 2019.
