Canyon Ski Area hosting moguls events

With freestyle skiing events shining on the world’s biggest stage at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Canyon Ski Area east of Red Deer is hosting a pair of high level freestyle skiing competitions this month.
This weekend, the Canadian Series Moguls / Dual Moguls Event will see national level athletes competing at Canyon. Training will be on the first two days with competition runs on Saturday and Sunday.
Then next weekend, Feb. 23 – 25, the Provincial Moguls Event will showcase the best athletes Alberta has to offer. Training will be on Friday with competition runs on Saturday and Sunday.
Canyon Ski Resort has seen some major course building renovations to the hill in advance of hosting the freestyle events for the 2019 Canada Winter Games, including the new Checkmate run / mogul course located just out front of the chalet. Spectators on the deck of the chalet will have the best seat in the house to watch national and provincial athletes over the next two weeks.
