Heartbroken: Red Deer slides off list of Canada’s most romantic cities

Red Deer has apparently lost some of its romantic lustre.

Our city failed to rank in this year’s edition of Amazon.ca’s Top 20 Most Romantic Canadian Cities after placing 11th a year ago.

Victoria, B.C. tops the list for the sixth year in a row.

The list is based off sales on Amazon’s website of romantic items such as romance novels, romantic comedies, relationship books, jewellry and sexual wellness products.

The study also revealed Brantford, Ontario as the single-biggest per capita purchaser of Michael Bublé CDs, while Calgary, ranked third on the list, is the most consistent consumer of romantic products landing in the top three of every category – just never at number one.

Red Deer is included on a somewhat racier list, however.

According to PinkCherry Canada, Red Deer is Canada’s 24th sexiest city, seventh in Alberta behind Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Medicine Hat, Airdrie, Calgary and Lethbridge.

The list is based off sales from their website during the calendar year of 2017. It sells items which can be broadly described as sex toys and adult novelties.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, Victoria also earned the title of Canada’s sexiest city.
