UPDATE: Riverside Meadows shooting suspect turns himself in

A man sought in relation to a shooting last month in Riverside Meadows has given himself up to police.

Red Deer RCMP say Kareem Lujmea Cummings, 25, turned himself in to Tuesday afternoon.

Cummings was wanted on a number of outstanding warrants regarding the incident in Riverside Meadows on January 18 in which shots were fired and bullets struck several residences and vehicles.

Charges against Cummings include wound with intent with a firearm, possess loaded restricted firearm, careless use of a firearm, possess handgun for dangerous purpose, carry concealed weapon, mischief under $5,000 (four counts), and fail to comply with conditions

A date has not yet been set for Cummings’ first appearance in Red Deer Provincial Court.

Red Deer RCMP continue to investigate the Jan. 18 incident at an apartment building at 59 Street and 55 Avenue. Several units, nearby residences and vehicles were damaged by bullets but police say no innocent bystanders were injured.

A man and woman taken into custody during the initial investigation were later released.
