Feb 7, 2018 | 8:15 AM

The CFL’s current sack champion and the newest member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders is coming to Lacombe.

Defensive End Charleston Hughes has been added to the roster for the ninth annual Lacombe Athletic Park Association Gala, Saturday, March 3 at the Lacombe Memorial Centre.

Hughes racked up 11 quarterback sacks and was a CFL All-Star in 2017. He tied Will Johnson for the Calgary Stampeders franchise record with 99 career sacks.

After 10 seasons with the Stamps, Hughes was traded twice in the same day last week, first to Hamilton then to the Roughriders.

Also attending this year’s LAPA Gala will be Adarius Bowman, the 2017 Tom Pate Award Winner and 2015 Grey Cup Champion Wide Receiver for the Edmonton Eskimos. Bowman continues to be a Superstar on and off the field with his amazing work in the community through his not for profit organization Adarius 4 Autism.

Bowman was released by the Eskimos on Monday and signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday.

Former Montreal Canadiens forward Gilbert Dionne and Lacombe’s own country music superstar Gord Bamford are also confirmed for the LAPA Gala.
