Central Alberta speed skaters selected for Alberta Winter Games

The Red Deer Central Lions Speed Skating Club has announced a number of its members have been selected to represent Zone 4 at the 2018 Alberta Winter Games.

The Games are taking place February 17-19 in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

Those who’ve been selected are:

Elizabeth Barnett (Rocky Mountain House)
Eleita Collinson (Rocky Mountain House)
Charlotte Cutts (Red Deer)
Teresa Cutts (Red Deer)
Brinley Davidson (Red Deer)
Tyler Larson (RMH)
Mark Malthouse (RMH)
Brianne Melvin (RMH)
Cooper Moore (Red Deer)
Daniel Revie (Red Deer)
Jackson Schultz (Red Deer)
Eoin Wolfe (Red Deer)

“This is an exciting opportunity for our speed skaters to compete at a high level as we build up to hosting the Canada Winter Games in 2019,” the organization says. “Coaches Nick Schultz and Brooke Pearman will be accompanying the team to Wood Buffalo for several exciting days of speed skating and have been working with the team to prepare them for racing at this level.”

The Zone 4 team has brought home medals from the last two Alberta Winter Games (Canmore 2014 and Medicine Hat 2016).
