Successful weekend for RDC curling and indoor track teams

The RDC Kings and Queens Indoor Track teams finished second at Grand Prix #1 in Edmonton.

The Red Deer College Curling teams had a solid weekend at the Winter Regional this past weekend and all three teams earned a spot in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Curling Championships in February.

RDC Indoor Track | Saturday, January 27 | Grand Prix #1 | MacEwan University

The Red Deer College Kings and Queens each finished second while Devon Gurney from the Kings had an excellent day on the track. The second-year Kinesiology & Sport Studies student finished first (2:54.31) in the men’s 1,000 m finals and third (1:30.97) in the 600 m finals. The runner from Prince George was named the Male Athlete of the Meet.

RDC Curling | January 26 - 28 | Winter Regional | Avonair Curling Club

At the Winter Regional this past weekend, the Kings earned a 3-2 record. The RDC Kings finished a combined 8-2 from the Fall and Winter Regionals and shared first place with Concordia University of Edmonton. The Queens went 5-1 this past weekend and finished third in the overall women’s standings (8-4). The RDC Mixed Curling team had a 3-2 weekend for fourth place (5-5) overall. All three RDC Curling teams qualify for the ACAC Curling Championships, February 16 to 18 in Camrose.
