Tickets go on sale in just over a week for the 2018 Sheraton Celebrity Dance Off.

The proceeds from this year’s event are supporting one of the legacy projects for the 2019 Canada Winter Games, the Celebration Plaza in downtown Red Deer.

Located along 48 Avenue on the grounds of the former Central Elementary School, the Celebration Plaza will provide a unique environment to host downtown events during the 2019 Games next February, and for decades to come.

The Celebration Plaza will feature outdoor stages for hosting ceremonies and live performances, public art space, accessibility ramp, and upgraded play space for Central Middle School students and the entire community to enjoy.

Following the 2019 Canada Winter Games, the plaza will be turned over to The City of Red Deer as the new home for the Red Deer Culture Centre.

The Sheraton Celebrity Dance Off takes place on Saturday, April 14 at the Sheraton hotel. Members of the public can purchase tickets for the big event starting Monday, January 29. More details at

You can also head to the Sheraton Celebrity Dance Off website to support the fundraising efforts of this year’s eight celebrity dancers – Duane Daines, Troy Gillard, Mellisa Hollingsworth, Cari MacLean, Carla MacLeod, Cindy Mandrusiak, Todd Simenson and John Young.

Organizers confident Red Deer is ready to host the country in 2019
