Dawe, Edobar named RDC Athletes of the Week

Red Deer College Athletics has named its first Boston Pizza Athletes of the Week for 2018.

Miranda Dawe – Queens Volleyball
Hometown – Grande Prairie, AB
Kinesiology & Sport Studies (5th year)

Dawe, who's now earned the honour in consecutive weeks, was dominant on the court once again last weekend. The outside hitter totalled 12 kills, one assist, one service ace and 18 digs to help the Queens defeat the Trojans in four sets on Friday. She pitched in with another 17 kills, one ace, 12 digs and two stuff blocks on Saturday when RDC hosted and defeated Calgary. The Grande Prairie native was also named player of the game on Saturday. The Queens are now 13-3 on the season.

Omon Edobar – Kings Basketball
Hometown – Calgary, AB
Academic Upgrading (1st year)

Edobar, helped the RDC Kings hoops squad to two important road wins in Lethbridge last weekend. In a 96-88 win, the first-year tallied 25 points, one steal, six assists, five rebounds and shot 81.8 per cent from the free-throw line. In the second game, he picked up another 12 points, seven assists, four rebounds and nailed 85.7 per cent of his free-throws in a 90-83 victory.
