Trial will take place May 11 for a man charged after shots were fired at a home in Mustang Acres last year.

Mounties were called just before 1 p.m. on March 7, 2017 to a report that two shots had been fired in a residence in the area of 68 Street and 59 Avenue. Officers immediately began their search for a suspect, and located him on foot nearby, arresting him without incident a few minutes later.

RCMP confirmed that the suspect and the two adult occupants of the home were known to each other, and that this was not a random incident, Cpl. Karen Kay said at the time.

No one was injured in the incident.

Hol Dominick Garang, 24, faces six firearms-related charges along with two counts of assault with weapon and one count of mischief.

Trial dates have been set for two of three people charged in connection to a fraud ring operating out of the Edmonton International Airport.

Mounties were called on Aug. 11, 2016 to a report of a credit card fraud in progress at a hotel at the airport. Officers attended and arrested four people. A subsequent search of the suspects’ vehicles resulted in seizure of stolen credit cards, identifications, computers and mail.

Property was recovered from thefts in Sylvan Lake, Stettler, Red Deer and Camrose.

Chance Muranaka, 44, faces 70 counts relating to theft and property offences.

Travis Muranaka, 40, of Sylvan Lake, is charged with 14 counts of theft, property and drug offences.

The pair will stand trial in Leduc Provincial Court on May 30 of this year.

Melissa Bowie, 27, of Sylvan Lake is charged with seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime. She has a court appearance scheduled for Jan. 25.

Trial has been booked for a local woman charged after a pair of busts in Red Deer in November.

Mounties recovered nine guns, four crossbows, ammunition and stolen property including dirt bikes, identification and electronics as part of a larger crime reduction strategy that focuses on identifying prolific offenders.

The first bust happened Nov. 5 when Mounties searched a storage locker on 79 Street in Red Deer. The second bust happened Nov. 22 when officers searched a residence on 58 Avenue in Highland Green.

Kelsey Pearl Torpe, 25, faces 98 counts and will face trial June 15 – 18 in Red Deer Provincial Court.

Andrew Scott Charpentier, 25, faces 100 charges has a court appearance scheduled for Jan. 17.
